Why Wear White On Your Wedding Day - Solo Deo Gloria Wedding Photography

Why Wear a White Wedding Dress On your Wedding day?

Everyone  knows the tradition of the bride wearing white on her wedding day, but where did it come from and why should you wear white? I know the most simple answer to this questions is, that white is and has always been a symbolism of purity on the wedding day.  It is also a symbolism of wealth and happiness.

According to Wikipedia: "White became a popular option in 1840, after the marriage of Queen Victoria to Albert of Saxe-Coburg, where Victoria wore a white gown to incorporate some lace she prized. The official wedding portrait photograph was widely published, and many brides opted for white in accordance with the Queen's choice."

Before the Vicorian Era, one of the most popular colors for a bride to wear was black, especially in Scandinavia. Still today in Eastern cultures and in the African cultures, bright vibrant colors are worn by the bride. Today the wearing of white is tradition and fashion. It become more popular in the 1950s in western culture when the television was invented and when the rich and the famous decided to pick up the trend.

White is not the only color that is trend and fashion tho, ivory and other pastels have also been a popular choice for brides. If you know what season your skin tone is best suited for this following tip will help you know which white tone will suite your skin for your wedding dress.
